Community Projects Guidelines

A. Number of Projects

The total requirements for Dentistry / Dental Hygiene , Nursing and Clinical Laboratory Sciences Interns will be as follows:

  • (1) Field Group community project
    Master video consisting of an introduction that can motivate the participants to listen and an outline of the presentation.
  • One video for every member (Author) with a duration of 1-2 minutes
    and
    (1) Video by Group with a duration of 3-4 minutes (Topic to be provided by the Faculty Ambassador) or another (1) Field Group community project

The total requirements for Pharmacy Trainees will be as follows:

  • (1) Field Group community project
    Master video consisting of an introduction that can motivate the participants to listen and an outline of the presentation.
  • One video for every member (Author) with a duration of 1-2 minutes
    or
    (2) Videos by Group with a duration of 3-4 minutes (Topic to be provided by the Faculty Ambassador)
B. Details on e-Video
  • All videos recommended will be reviewed by the member of the community project committee regarding quality, craftsmanship and if they uphold the country’s culture and tradition. A mark of 75% and above will qualify a video for uploading in the YouTube linked to the College website .

C. Target Population – School Children from primary to intermediate level

Other target participants will be subjected to the discretion of the King Salman Center for Children Health.

D. Target Site – Schools in Riyadh Region

Other target sites will be subjected to the discretion of the King Salman Center for Children Health.

    For School Community Projects – (1) week before the date of school community project
    For E-Video Community Projects – End of December

F. Assessment and Evaluation of Field Community Projects 

Official questionnaires will be used to gauge the knowledge of the population on certain topics before and after the community service.

The total evaluation will be based on the result of the above survey (Impact), Concept and Organization, Professionalism, Creativity, Presentation, Documentation and Community Project Report.

A. Type of the video:

  • Should be original and can be in the form of
    • Animation
    • Actual Footage
  • Should uphold the tradition and culture of Saudi Arabia
B. Length:
  • Individual Video: 1 to 3 minutes
  • Group Video: 3 to 5 minutes
  • Master Video: Collection of all the individual videos of the whole group

C. Language

Use subtitle, translate to English if video is in Arabic or translate to Arabic if the video is in English

D. Font:

  • Should be clear from 6 feet distance
  • Correct Spelling
E. Background Music:
  • The video should have music and should be suitable for the culture of Saudi Arabia

F. Authorship: (at the beginning or at the end of video)

  • New logo of RCsDP and King Salman Center for Children’s Health with the name
  • The Complete Name, ID, Batch No. and Program should be indicated
  • Name of Faculty Supervisor

G. Important Point:

  • Respect the culture of Saudi Arabia
  • Copy and Paste from the internet is not allowed
  • Advertising is not allowed
  • Video should not be uploaded in the YouTube
  • All videos will be subjected for review by the Community Project Committee prior to uploading in the YouTube linked to the College Website
  • Community project supervisor should know the requirements and guidelines of intern’s community projects.
  • The CPS should have prior information about the pre/post questionnaires that will be utilized in the school projects.
  • The CPS should coordinate with the leader and all the members of the group in planning of school educational project.
  • After discussion with group members of topic title and theme of the project , the CPS should give his/her approval to begin the project.
  • The CPS should make sure that theme of the project should focus on the assessment of basic knowledge of health/oral health among school children (Questionnaire content).Theme of the project should be divided into smaller topics among the group members in preparing their video presentation.
  • The CPS should evaluate the video presentations for scientific authenticity and inform the interns to make necessary changes if needed.
  • The CPS should make final approval of the individual video’s and power point presentations of the interns. Duration of the individual videos should not be more than 1-2 minutes. Videos should have Arabic voice with English subtitle running in the bottom of the video.
  • The CPS should guide the members of the group to arrange the individual videos in a meaningful sequence and to prepare a single master video.
  • The CPS should make sure to include the logos of RCsDP and King Salman Center for Children Health and acknowledgements in the video.
  • The CPS should check the final version of the master video and give final approval for displaying it among the school children.
  • The CPS should check for any copyright materials or pictures that have been used in the video.
