Chairman’s Message

I am delighted that at this time in the short history of Riyadh Elm University, Formerly Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy (RCsDP), a Research Center (REU) has been formally and officially established and that a Director has been appointed to oversee its activities and growth.
William Gies, biochemist, dentist and pioneer founder-editor of Journal of Dental Research, in Vol 1 No 1 of the Journal in 1919, wrote “Research in its highest expression is open-minded inquiry for truth, to be found and revealed unreservedly for the information, instruction, advantage and welfare of all.” There is very little to add to this definition.
An attribute of a higher institution of learning like ours, is Scientific Research in which is emphasized in the Mission, Vision, and Goals of Riyadh Elm University, Formerly Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy (RCsDP). By having a Research Center which will coordinate research activities in REU, be these by students, interns, residents, and faculty, our institution has demonstrated its commitment to promoting basic, clinical, behavioral, disease prevention and health promotion research activities.
Scientific research requires significant human, laboratory and financial resources. We shall do our best to make resources available from internal sources. At the same time, we encourage our faculty, especially those in team-research efforts, to seek funds from outside REU, formerly RCsDP within the regulations of our institution and the outside body or agency granting such research funds.
This Administration believes that with the active support and cooperation of all concerned in REU, research activities in our institution will be greatly enhanced and will give preeminence to REU.
