In the aim of honing the knowledge on E-Learning, the Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy held its 52nd Quality Assurance Symposium on December 24, 2015 at its Theater Hall in An Namuthajiyah Campus with the topic, “Enabling E-Learning Project: E-Training for Faculty Member and Students, Overview Principles”.
The Rector Prof. Abdullah R. Al Shammery started the said activity through the introduction of the Blackboard to the participants and by sharing his learnings about the E-Learning system from the other related symposium he attended at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh.
Mr. Mohamed Jarallah Al-Hebabi was invited as the guest speaker of the 52nd QA symposium who, according to Prof. Al-Shammery, citing his experience in the use of the E-learning system, can share his expertise that may help educate the faculty members and students of RCsDP about the said platform.
Mr. Al-Hebabi gave an overview with an emphasis on the importance of the E-Learning system particularly in an educational institution such as the RCsDP. He also discussed the benefits of embarking into online education like the E- Learning system which could provide an online interaction between the faculty and students, making it more time and energy efficient.
Mr. Mohammed also gave a brief explanation about the Learning Management System and as an example, he presented the King Khaled University Portal using the Blackboard features.
On the other hand, Prof. Al-Shammery presented how the E-Learning system works in the website of RCsDP. He also showed a video clip prepared by Dr. Noura AlRasheed which compares the pros and cons of paper system against the paperless online system.
The Rector also announced that by second semester of the academic year 2015-2016 the use of the E-learning system shall progress and he encouraged the faculty staff to familiarize the platform because he knew that through this system, the interest to learn by the students will further increase.
