RCsDP’s own Prof. Farouk Sakr, Chairman of the Pharmacy Department, was one of only two winners of the 2014 ACDIMA Best Research Award for his research titled “Preparation and evaluation of a multimodal minoxidil microemulsion versus minoxidil alone in the treatment of androgenic alopecia of mixed etiology: a pilot study”. Prof. Farouk received his prize (a trophy and cash) at the awarding ceremonies held during the ACDIMA Annual General Meeting in Amman, Jordan on June 24 this year.
The ACDIMA or the Arab Company For Drug Industries and Medical Appliances is a Pan-Arab shareholding company established by a resolution from the Arab Economic Unity Council on March 6, 1976. On the national level, ACDIMA sets up a strategy for the drug industries and medical appliances,conducts the feasibility and technical studies for the projects to be established in the Arab World, subscribes along with the Arab governments and other parties in these projects. On the international level, ACDIMA builds relations with multinational bodies to assist in setting up and participating in projects in the Arab World. It also concentrates on the ?eld of training to create and develop competent personnel for the drug industries and medical appliances.
The ACDIMA Best Research Award is for the best scientific research in the field of applied pharmaceutical sciences. It aims to encourage Arab scientists and researchers working in Arab universities, research centers and pharmaceutical companies to do more research in the field and to create positive competition for creativity and innovation toward the development of pharmaceutical industries in the Arab World.
For Prof. Farouk, the prize is only a fraction of what RCsDP deserves. He has promised to keep looking forward to more award-winning researches in the years to come.
