The Quality Assurance Center of the Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy marked its 45th Quality Assurance Symposium last November 20, 2014 at the Colleges auditorium.
At this symposium, the Rector and Chairman of the Quality Assurance Committee of the College, thanked the deans, the department chairmen and the faculty for their efforts and initiatives to improve the quality of teaching and learning. He encouraged the faculty to increase their interaction with the students as this fosters better classroom performance for both them and their students.
The Rector pointed to the increase in the number of interns this year and the concomitant need for more faculty to supervise the interns in their researches. He lauded the efforts of the Research Center but encouraged more participation and contributions from the faculty in these efforts.
The Rector noted that a number of unauthorized researches were being conducted in the clinics and made a plea to everyone to comply with the protocol that is already in place.
Prof. Abdullah encouraged the faculty to optimize the use of the smartboards in the classrooms and advised them to learn how to use them to their advantage. He also reminded them of the existence of the Saudi Digital Library and to compel their students to utilize this expensive but useful program.
Dr. Saleh Al Shamrani, Dean for Dentistry, gave a presentation on the differences in the GPAs of male and female students in Dentistry and Pharmacy by level. For most levels, the male had an edge in their GPAs over their female counterparts.
The 45th QA Symposium was capped by a video-show on the 10th Riyadh International Dental Meeting and the 4th International Quintessence Dental Arab Conference and the awarding of certificates of appreciation to the students who served in the organizing committees for the said conferences.
