External review panels from the Education Evaluation Commission-Sector of Evaluation and Academic Accreditation (EEC-SEAA) – formerly the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA)- came to Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy to scrutinize the Colleges and its Dentistry and Pharmacy programs for their readiness for the renewal of accreditation in May this year.
The first panel of evaluators visited RCsDP from 27 November through 01 December 2016 to assess the institution and its quality assurance processes and make commendations, recommendations, and suggestions , as appropriate. It was composed of the following: Professor Hasan Ali Bicak, former President of the Higher Education Accreditation and Coordination Council in North Cyprus (as chairman of the panel.); Professor David A. Latif, Department Head of the Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences and Professor of Pharmacy Administration at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Charleston, USA; Professor Seval Akgun, Professor of Public Health at the School of Medicine and Coordinator of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of the Baskent University in Turkey; Professor Fadi M. Alkhateeb, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Administration and Director of Assessment and Accreditation at the Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy in Texas, USA; and Professor Yousra Hussain AlJazairy, Assistant Professor and Esthetic Consultant at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, College of Dentistry of the King Saud University, KSA.
Two other teams of reviewers visited RCsDP from December 16 to 22, 2016 to assess the two academic programs offered by RCsDP; that is, the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences programs. These panels were tasked to make commendations, recommendations and suggestions based on their reviews and to recommend whether the programs should be accredited.
The panel of reviewers for the Dentistry program were Professor David John Manton, Elsdon Storey Chair of Child Dental Health of the Melbourne Dental School at the University of Melbourne, (as panel chair); Professor Amr Abou-El-Ezz, Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine at Cairo University; Dr. Amal Sindi, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Dentistry, Oral Diagnostic Sciences at the King Abdulaziz University, KSA; and Dr. Felicity Annette Crombie, Senior Lecturer at the Melbourne Dental School of the University of Melbourne.
The review panel for the Pharmacy program were Professor George Spratto, Dean Emeritus, School of Pharmacy of the West Virginia University, WV, USA (as panel chair); Professor Abdulaziz AlYahya, Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the King Saud University, KSA; Professor Saman Butt_Hanif, Clinical Pharmacist at the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL, USA; and Professor Dima M. Qato, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy also at the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL, USA.
