Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy (RCsDP) participated actively in the Dental Education and Preventive Dentistry Sessions of the 21st edition of the UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC Dubai) which ran from February 7 to 9 this year at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
n the first day, Prof. Hezekiah Mosadomi, Director of the RCsDP Research Center co-chaired the dental education session in the morning while Dr. Jamal Al Sanea, Dean of the RCsDP College of Dentistry (Female) presented a paper on “Vertical Curriculum as a Tool of Clinical Dental Education – The Role of Senior Students as Role Models.”
In the afternoon of the first day, Prof. Mosadomi spoke on “Promoting Postgraduate Training in Diagnostic Oral Sciences in GCC Countries for Academia and to Strengthen Oral Disease Prevention Strategies”.
Day 2 saw Dr. Jamal co–chairing the morning session and Dr. Deema Al Shammery presenting a paper on “Social Media for Teaching and Learning: Students’ Perceptions In Riyadh Colleges.”
On the third day, RCsDP Rector Professor Abdullah R. Al Shammery co-chaired the morning GCC Preventive Dentistry Session, while Dr. Sharat Pani, Assistant Director of the RCsDP Research Center discussed “The Microeconomics of Preventive Dentistry: the Feasibility of Preventive Dental Care at the Level of a Small to Medium Dental Practice”.
After the break, Prof. Al Shammery delivered the keynote address on “Dental Caries in the GCC Region – the Implications for the Future of Preventive Dentistry in the Region.” He was also one of the panelists and speakers together with Dr. Mohammad Al Rafee, Faculty, Prosthodontics at the Panel discussion and Press Conference for the GCC Preventive Dentistry Session. Dr. Al Rafee presented the paper “Dental Caries in the Young Permanent Teeth – Data from Saudi Arabia in relation to other GCC countries.”
AEEDC Dubai is deemed to be the largest dental event for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. For 2017,it had for its theme “Education and Innovation Transfer”.
