The workshop (labor force in the field of Dentistry in the gulf countries) is organized by Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy in collaboration with the Executive Office of Health Ministers of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). The workshop was held in the big theatre, An Namothajiyah campus, King Fahad Road, on Nov 28, 2015. In the presence of the participating delegations from inside and outside the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and some leaders in the field of Dentistry – according to Dr. Diaa Ansari, head of the media committee and a faculty member in RCsDP.
The ceremony has begun with the National anthem followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran presented by the student Faisal Al-Dawood then the student Abdulaziz Al Shalhoub; the concert presenter, welcomed the audience and reviewed some of RCsDP’s efforts in supporting the march of medical services in the GCC countries, particularly in the field of dentistry. RCsDP has consistently maintained an effective participation and continuing involvement in the development of the dental profession in the Gulf countries, in addition it provides the necessary efforts in order to improve the profession of oral and dental surgery and to highlight the importance of health care problems. RCsDP aims to develop a preventive map on oral health diseases and tooth decay especially in the context of the citizens and residents of the Gulf countries. He said: “we are pleased and delighted to welcome you all to this scientific workshop on manpower in the field of Dentistry in the Gulf Cooperation Council. It is vital to recognize the importance of this topic upon which to determine the region’s need for the preparation of the labor force and the titles and job descriptions in the field of Dentistry. For this purpose; this workshop was held in cooperation between the Executive Office of Health Ministers of the GCC and RCsDP in order to make every effort for the sake of upgrading the preventive and therapeutic dental services.”
After that, HE Prof. Tawfiq Khoja, Director General of the Executive Office of the GCC Council of Health Ministers delivered a speech, in which he said: “I am honored to attend the opening of this workshop on Oral Medicine and Dentistry that is held in the generous host; Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy and under the direct supervision of His Excellency Prof. Abdullah Al-Shammari, the rector of RCsDP and a scientific adviser to the Executive Office. On my own behalf and on behalf of the Executive Office of the Gulf Cooperation Council States for the Ministers of Health; I am pleased to extend my deep thanks and gratitude for this generous hosting of the workshop and for the efforts of His Excellency and the staff for the good work preparation, precision, and organization. I also welcome our dear guests, the Member State representatives in the workshop, and RCsDP that has been credited after God in the activation and strengthening of this program.” He added: “dear colleagues, on this day you are drawing the correct road map and contributing efficiently in determining the parameters of the strategic plan that is required to formulate and determine the titles and job descriptions of necessary medical competencies. In closing, I repeat my thanks to my brother, His Excellency Prof. Abdulla Al-Shammari, rector of RCsDP and the scientific adviser to the Executive Office for monitoring the implementation of this committee and for his benevolent efforts and continuous support. I would also like to extend my thanks to all the committee members for their sustained efforts and for the representatives of member countries. Hoping all efforts will be crowned with success.”
Afterwards, HE Prof. Abdullah bin Rukaib Al-Shammari – rector of RCsDP and the scientific adviser of the Executive Office of the Gulf Cooperation Council States for the Ministers of Health- presented a word, which stated: “Praise be to Allah, prayer and peace to His Messenger Prophet Muhammad. Dear HE Prof. Tawfeeq Khoja, colleagues, Member State representatives in the workshop on the labor force in the disciplines of Dentistry, and guests. I am pleased we are celebrating on this day the opening of this workshop on the dental labor-force in the disciplines of Dentistry, in cooperation with the Executive Office of the Gulf Cooperation Council States for the Ministers of Health. And I welcome all the distinguished guests who have come from inside and outside the Kingdom for their attendance and participation in this workshop, which is organized by Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy.”
He added: “RCsDP is considered one of the tributaries of advanced learning in National higher education that contribute effectively in serving and supporting the development of the various dental programs, through qualifying and graduating students in various health disciplines. In addition, it offers many educational courses, workshops, and scientific meetings. This workshop is concerned with identifying the titles and job descriptions in the disciplines of Dentistry. There is no doubt that health services in the Kingdom are witnessing a rapid development, even it become comparable to those in the developed world, especially in the field of dentistry. RCsDP places great emphasis in terms of providing support and contribute to the promotion and activation of oral health and dental programs aimed at promoting dental services in the GCC.”
He concluded by saying: “Finally, I pray to God that all the activities of this workshop to be crowned with success and to achieve the desired interest and to benefit the public, under the guidance and support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and who does every effort in order to support and take care of all health services and sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia- our beloved country. I would also like to repeat my thanks and appreciation to HE Prof. Tawfeeq Khoja, my colleagues in the Executive Office for their fruitful cooperation with us, and all the members of RCsDP for their outstanding efforts they have been made in preparing for the preparation and holding of this workshop. Our last prayer, all praises are for Allah.”
